I'd say it is TMJ go and see your doctor and your dentist and ask to be referred to the hospital and don't give up till you are, if left it can become a serious problem, I have it only I am a severe case(check my questions) and it is not nice.PLEASE don't leave it some think it is only a clicky jaw only the problems it can give you are awful. If you check out TMJ.com it will give you lots of info. Good luck and take care.

This sounds like TMJ (temporomandibular joint syndrome), especially if you also have headaches, toothache, aching neck, shoulders or back, and the clicking is nothing but a minor annoyance which should go away when the condition is corrected. If you can't open your mouth, brush your teeth or are having sharp headaches, go to your doctor ASAP, as this is a sign your TMJ is getting worse.
Take an aspirin and rub your jaw area with a hot towel. This should relieve it. Also make sure you have the right pillow to give your neck the right support. Also don't sleep on your front. The strangest thing as well, which is true, they say not to wear high heels!! I don't know why, but it's true!

I had the clicking sounds for 3 or 4 years. There was no pain, just the clicks when eating, and it was a bit embarrassing when eating in company. I believe it was caused by a displaced cartilage where the lower jaw hinged on the skull in front of the ear. The clicks were caused by the cartilage snapping back into place. In my case it occured on one side of my jaw only.
The condition went away when I had a filling in one of my molars. The dentist advised me not to eat anything hard with the molar in question. (I love eating roasted peanuts!) I resorted to eating on the other side of my jaw. Later I realised the clicking sounds were gone!
Yes, check for TMJ. I believe it stands for Temporo Mandibular Joint, or something like that. Good luck!

This is TMJ or a misalignment of the jaw. Some people have to wear a night guard and others need to do nothing. It can be very painful. If you are young, my advice to you is to stay away from extremely chewy candies and foods, since they can make it worse. An orthdontist can align your bite if the clicking is bad.

This sounds very much like it's the cartlidge at your jaws hinge points it's the same as when you turn your neck and hear a clicking noise.
It's nothing to worry about but if you are concerned make a visit to your doctor so that he can put your mind at rest

Sounds like you might have TMJ Dysfunction. One of the symptoms is the jaw clicking, and the feeling that your jaw might lock. I know how it feels, as I used to have it. You may want to see a doctor about it for treatment.

i get this aswell.i heard on a tv show that if you've had a fair bit of dental work it can put your jaw out slightly which is why it clicks.one of the presenters had this and the medical person that was on put it back in place on the show.i've decided to stick with the click after seeing him do it.

It is quite common to get a click, this is a small movement in the T-M joint due to minor subluxation. (Slight laxity of the ligaments that hold the tempero-mandibular joint). It is generally best ignored. Your jaw will not lock.
