dc stands for Direct Current. this is a term used mostly for batteries and other acid-related voltage sources. A DC machine, simply put, is a machin which runs of off dc current. pleace note that just because something takes batteries, does not make it a dc machine. it has to run directly from the batteries without a special component which can turn dc energy to ac energy.

DC Machines mean a machine which produces or uses direct current. DC generators and dc motors come under dc machines.

DC motors have great speed control and is used in traction and other purposes.
