It started yesterday, and I don't know what it is, it sounds like a UTI but I'm not sure. It burns when I pee and it burns afterwards. When I do pee not much 'comes out'. I feel I need to pee all the time too. Oh, and would lubrication have the same effect? Thank you, sorry its a rather 'personal' question, but I wanted to make sure before asking my Mom.

Thank you for your advice. I'll ask my Mom. Just one other question how do you usually get UTI's? Thanks.

Would I be able to get Barley water at a local Supermarket? Or do I get it from a health store? I don't think it is from sex as I havn't had sex in about 3/4 weeks.

Hi
Almost certainly cystitis. This is NOT an STD! There are other possible causes so if it doesn't go quicky with the cures below, go to a doctor.
Home cures include drinking barley water or cranberry juice (alters the aciditiy of your wee I think). Hot water bottle on your lower tummy. Drink lots and lots of water, you need to wash the bacteria out. Avoid things like tea and coffee. If it doesn't clear up in the next day or two or gets worse, go to the doctor as antibiotics will clear it up (just make sure you finish the course, even if it feels better).
However, cystitis, which is a bacterial infection, can spread to your kidneys and if this sets in can be dangerous (you could end up in hospital) and you'll feel ill for weeks. A kidney infection starts as an ache in the lower, middle back and kidneys and progresses to feeling like you've been beaten and kicked. If you get this you should go straight for an emergency doctor appointment, don't wait til the next day for an appointment slot. This can be treated with antibiotics but you need to take them before it takes hold, if you want a quick recovery.
Causes - sometimes you just get it and can't work out why. It can happen if you've had to 'hold on' to your wee on a journey, or if you don't drink enough water (if your wee is yellow/orange normally you're not drinking enough water). You can get it from too much sex, without sufficient lubrication. If this might be the cause discuss it with your practice nurse.
Don't worry about your mother, she's probably had it herself and will be sympathetic.

Hey Emma, i agree with Bob, definitely Cystitis. Cystitisis incredibly painful and you can be totally busting to go to the toilet but when you go there is just dribbles and then it burns insanely. Get yourself to a chemist and ask the pharmacist his advice. Most pharmacists these days are pretty good diagnosing stuff like that and betcha he'll tell you its Cystitis and get something called "Ural" for it. They are little satchets of powder that you dissolve in water and drink. They relieve the pain tremendously.

****** You get UTI's by not keeping your body hydrated enough. You need to drink at least 8 - 10 glasses cold water per day. If you drink soda/soft drinks/coffee/tea then for each one you have you need to replace with 1.5 times the amount of cold water !!! So if you have 4 lemonades, then you need an EXTRA 6 glasses of water per day on top of the usual 8 - 10 glasses just to stay hydrated !!! ************

******** Sure you can get barley water at the local supermarket. But I just thought, got any apple cider vinegar ?? Simply put two tablespoons into a glass and mix with cold water and drinkup. This will realkalize your digestive system believe it or not. When we drinkand eat too much acidic foodstuffs it places too much of a burden on our digestive systems, that's where the apple cider vinegar helps out by giving it a bit of a helping hand. You should get a great deal of relief by doing this 4 - 5 times per day. ********

Its greater effective than in all probability a urinary tract an infection, in spite of the indisputable fact that for the time of the experience that your generic practitioner examined your pee and it got here up damaging then it is not a UTI. Which leads me to have faith its whats noted as a Gal Stone, in certainty the edge consequences of having on is burning once you pee and you do no longer pee commonly in any respect. Ever watch eco-friendly mile? comparable ingredient. tell your generic practitioner this theory he could have some assessments to tutor it.

You either have a UTI or you are passing stones. If it burns every time, you probably have a UTI. Passing a stone or stones usually is an intense pain when you pee, but it doesn't happen every time. Also, there is often blood when you pass a stone.
Ask your mom or go to a doctor. Probably should do both.

Hi Emma,
this sounds like you may have cystitis (a bladder infection) this can be eased by drinking lemon barley water, which is pleasant to drink and inexpensive.
However, as with all medical problems do not take advice from non-experts (like me) you should seek proper medical advice. It is possible that this is more than mere cystitis and may need more urgent and severe medication.
Don't take chances with your health.

You possibly have a bladder or kidney infection, tell your mother so she can make you an appointment with the doctor, try to take a pee sample with you, in a small very clean but small jar.
