I need to lose approx 54lbs before July. I am willing to work hard for this but I have tried the normal diets and they haven't helped much. If anyone out there has lost this sort of weight in this kind of time scale then please comment. Please no moral comments, i'm not just going on a fad I am currently very overweight and I need to lose the 54lbs to be at a healthy weight. Thank-you x

1. Increase fruit and veg intake, and lower confectionary and fat intake - eat a good breakfast - if you don't like fruit and veg - stick them in a blender and make a shake out of them (without adding icecream etc - just add pure orange juice) - side effect to tonnes of fruit and veg can be "loose bowel movements"
2. Exercise more - doesn't have to be weight training - just increased movements - walking or yoga - I lost a lot of weight thru gentle yoga - but it was 4 or 5 weeks before it started to shift.

Well, for starters you can strike the word "diet" from your vocabulary. What you are striving for is a healthy balance for your food intake and exercise requirements, ultimately achieving a healthy weight and vitality. You are an individual, no cookie cutter diet template is going to work for everyone. If you are serious about taking care of your health, I would encourage you to consult a nutritionist about your plans. Once you are motivated (and perhaps you would have lost a little bit of weight by that time) consider investing in a few sessions with a personal trainer in order to discover what type of exercise works for you, your schedule and your goals. I am in the same boat as you.

I tried to lose weight and seemed to struggle a lot with it, since I must admit that i love to eat.

The only one tip which applies to me is to stay away from carbs as much as possible. As soon as I introduce rice and bread i begin to gain some weight.
