Sometimes when I go to concerts, I can't really get a good picture of the singers face. I want a telephoto lens that can go really far but then not be rediculously priced.

With the lighting conditions at a concert (unless you're at an outdoor concert during the day), you're asking for a really fast super telephoto lens. Unfortunately, fast super telephoto also means ridiculously priced. Here are some examples for a Canon:

Canon 70-200 f/2.8L: $1089 (this may be too short)
Sigma 300mm f/2.8: $2600
Canon 300mm f/2.8L IS: $3750
Canon 400mm f/2.8L IS: $6300

As the other poster mentioned, you're probably better off renting the lens you need.

That's not easy. Concerts take place usually by night and with highly changing illumination, so you need a luminous lens and a camera with a good noise at high ISOs. Depending on where you get if you are between the public (I suposse you don't have access to a press pass or similar, that can get you very near the stage), you'll need a 200mm minimun (if you are at first line).

If you wanna be really far in a concert at night, I'll suggest a 10Mp camera (so you can later crop the picture), with at least 1.5x magnification factor, good noise a 800 ISO, and a 200-300mm, preferibly with a f4 aperture. That's not ridiculously priced, but is neither cheap. As metallic_vortex points, you can hire the equipment.

This is too difficult to do and get good pictures. You would need a lens that would cost more than your house. You would have to depend on stage lighting and you don't know the color temperature of the lights. A flash is useless because you will be more than 50-60 feet away.

It depends on how far away you are, and how big your subject is. The link below has a calculator for figuring out the focal length you need. The longest I can usually find for a good price is 500mm (and that's only if I rent the lens). This works if you're only 40 feet away, but if you're further, you're looking at a pretty expensive lens.

It really depends on what kind of camera you have and how far away you are.
