Babies would definitely go to heaven. They have not reached an age of accountability, therefore they have not sinned.

Hang on a sec. You say you're an atheist and that means you couldn't care less about the idea of Heaven or Hell. And yet you hope your nephew "is in a nice place". And you've received plenty of nice answers to that effect.

But nice answers are not a justification for salvation. Luke 18 should have brought a response of "no thanks, Jesus, the kids don't need you, they're below the age of reason." Jesus should have ignored the kids completely.

Kenny K, God's GRACE is what brings the baby and anyone else to Heaven, through the blood of the Son. The baby didn't earn anything for itself. To proclaim your nephew or anyone else innocent on their own merit is to make Christ's death on the cross of no effect for the children. I don't buy that. But neither do you, you're an atheist.

I feel sorry for your loss. It takes a long time to rebuild lives when things come crashing down, and you start in the basement and work your way up. And the bricks get lighter as you rebuild, even though it's never quite the same.

First of all can I say how sorry I am to hear about your nephew, a loss of a child is a terrible thing, but if I might may I try to offer you some words of comfort.

1. The fact that you regard yourself as an atheist has absolutely no relevance on where your nephew is.

2. Now regarding a small child who dies, a child will not be held accountable for their actions until they reach a certain age which is called the age of understanding. Now no one but God knows this age as we all mature physically and mentally at different rates. After reaching this age where they truly understand right from wrong then they will be held accountable for their actions.

*Note I said truly, because it is easy for a child to know something is wrong by being taught, but true understanding comes when they understand why it is wrong*

3. It has nothing whatsoever to do with religion of any kind, but that is a subject for another time.

So please be comforted by the sure and certain knowledge that your nephew is in heaven in the presence of Almighty God, where there are no tears, no sadness, no sickness, only joy everlasting.

Should you have any more questions then please feel free to e-mail me any time.

These answers are funny, because the last time I asked about babies, I was told that all people are born with Original Sin and that baptism washes that away; hence an unbaptized baby would not go to Heaven. An awful lot of them have their babies baptized, and that is why. These answers just go to show that they will believe and say whatever is convenient at any given moment.

I am sorry for your loss, but I don't believe that Heaven exists. I believe that death is simply that, the end of life, and that it is healthier to move through the denial stage, through the other four stages of grief to acceptance, than it is to try to delude yourself. Death is hard enough to deal with without making it a religious issue, that will drive you nuts. Just be there for each other, as human beings, and you'll get through this.

Do not listen to infrared. Yes all babies go th Heaven in the loving arms of Jesus. There is a Heaven and there is a Hell. But little inocent babies and little children when they die will end up in Heaven. Just to give you some hope there is a true story about a little girl that was almost 5, she drowned and went to Heaven, and saw Jesus and the Father. She did not know anything about abortions, and in Heaven she said she saw little babies that were squeezed out and unwanted, and they are in Heaven being looked after by the angles and Jesus and are having a good time, and in Heaven they grow up like on earth. And her grandmother who had an abortion years ago and no body know about it except her mother, this little girl Victoria said she saw her mothers son up there wainting for her.God decided to give this little girl her life back on earth. She even sat on the lap on God(the Father). Jesus did not want her to go back, but God sent her back as a witness to what she saw so she could bring others to Christ, and she even saw the scars in Jesus hands and feet and said they were very big.The book is called 6 Big, Big, Big angels. As 6 Big angles took her to Heaven when she drowned. It was written by her grandmother Marry Jo Pennington. Worth reading.

As far as the bible doctrine is concerned, babies goes to heaven. But this event shall take place when the Son of man comes for the judgment day.

People who comes to hear the gospel and rejects it - they are the people who will receive judgment. Babies and youngs who is not capable of deciding which is the TRUTH or LIES - will not be judged.

Yes. It is not the child's fault if the parents doen't have religion. Man's judgment will be based on his own accounts - based on his knowledge and obedience to tjhe rules of God.

May the good news of salvation knocks on your door...

The scriptures tell us that innocent children who die are now in heaven.

Christ taught as much:

Luk 18:15 Now they were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them. And when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
Luk 18:16 But Jesus called them to him, saying, "Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.
Luk 18:17 Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it."
(ESV Translation) (see also Matthew 19:13-15 and Mark 10:13-16)

More evidence:

David had a son named of Absalom, a son who was sinful and rebellious towards his father and tried to dethrone his father—in other words, a very bad son. Recall that he was killed in a rather horrible death. David’s response was: “Absalom, Absalom, my son, my son, my son…” and he goes on and on and on and there never is any relief and no one can get David to stop wailing, and David cannot overcome the emotion and the horror of it all. The bible tells us that there was no way to comfort David.

Now compare the above with David’s son born of Bathsheba. When the child became ill, David prayed to God to save the life of the baby. David prayed earnestly, and was told that the baby died. David got up, washed, wiped away his tears, and said, “He cannot come to me; I’ll go to him.” See the differences in these two stories?

David wasn’t saying, “I will be buried in the grave near him.” That would have been true of Absalom. This is one indication of the David’s faith in the goodness and grace of God for the **innocent** (baby) and the hopelessness of David, knowing the judgment and the justice of God upon the **guilty** (Absalom).

In yet another example, consider the babies that were offered to Molech, the pagan god. These babies offered to Molech are referred to in the prophets as “the blood of the innocents” (Jer. 19:4) and when God says they are innocent, that’s a strong indication of the fate of these babies.

I am sorry for your loss, but confident in the righteousness of a perfect God that your nephew is now in a better place.

I'm really sorry to hear about your nephew - that is very sad. The good news is that all babies go to heaven because they are under the age of accountability that the Bible talks about - which is somewhere between 11-14 years of age. Children who have not reached this age do not suffer the consequences of their free will. Your nephew is with God and if you receive Jesus Christ as your savior, you will see your nephew again. If you don't choose to let Jesus save you, you will go to hell and burn alive forever. I'm not trying to be shocking, but that's the truth and I tell everyone I can because I would hate to see anyone go there. God hates that anyone would not choose Him as well. He hates to see His creation suffer. He does not force us to choose Him, though, because He has given us the dignity of free will. Mankind chose to sin and since then, we have all been damned to hell. Jesus, who is fully God, became a Man to die for us so that we could be forgiven of our sins and given God's own nature, which means we will never die and we live with Him in love forever. God loves you. He does not want you to suffer in hell. Invite Jesus into your heart as your savior and you will never die! Hopefully I'll see you there too!

The salvation of those who cannot cognitively understand their sinful condition or God’s cure is a mystery. It is not clearly revealed to us. But the Bible has shown that it is possible and has happened with at least David’s son. Beyond that, we must trust the fact that God is not willing that any should perish, but all come to repentance. Part of God’s nature is mercy and He bestows His mercy and His grace on whom He will. Since God is all-knowing, He knows which babies will not have a chance at life outside the womb and if he wishes He can save them like David’s son.

I believe, as many Christians do, that God seals you until your age of understanding, It would vary from person to person but at 8 moths that is defiantly below that age and I believe your nephew is in heaven. I'm sorry for your family's loss. God Bless you all.
