What kind of signs is it talking about?

Possibly from my interpretation, these signs are associated with astrology, The stars were put into place not to light the earth but to enlighten the earth. After all why would there be stars out there whose light doesn't even touch the earth?

They will be use for time, days, weeks, months years. Daytime, nightime, They will be use also to show seasons change. Here in the USA when the sun is below the equater, it is winter here, in the summer here the sun is above the equator. Some of our satates in the south do not get as cold as other parts of the USA, In the south we have palm trees, in Alaska very north there is no trees.
