She is very active but when comes to learn ABC, she will run around the house. When I say 'A', she will say 'B'. She seldom follow what you have said. The same with numbers.

She likes to dance and sing karaoke with her dad.
*note: I'm working mom and my husband was transferred to another city - quite far. I only have time spend with her during night & weekend.

Give her time. 23 months is still very young. Continued exposure to numbers and letters will continue to prepare her for when she is ready to let you know she has been paying attention!
*Sing the ABC song while changing diapers, washing hands, taking a bath
*Count buttons on a dress/shirt as you help her get dressed
*have her help you count the number of apples you put in a bag at the market
*Read books that count objects or have the alphabet - Chica Chica Boom Boom is a favorite in our house
*Give her letter and number magnets to play with on the fridge and talk to her about what sound they make or what number/letter they are

SING, SING, SING when I am in the car we sing the ABCs all the time. When my daughter is in time out we sing the ABC's (Instead of a timer at 23 months she has not Idea) We also are using the Leap Frog Word Whammer....We love it! It helps with 3 letter words when they are older, but for now it helps us with letters and sound recognition....Good luck.

When my son was that age he would do the same thing. I just kept singing the ABC song to him at various times throughout the day hoping he would join along. He never did. I thought he was never going to learn his alphabet. Until, one day we were driving in the car and he started singing the ABC song. He was listening when I sang it to him, he just wasn't participating. Be persistant with it, just don't push it.

My two year now started to followed everthing I say...
I give him treats when he say everything right and that works... and now he knows how to court to 1 to 10 all by himselves and also in another laugage too...
It takes time but you can do that to her...ask her to sit down and put her faoruite food on the table.. tell her if she reads the ABC or numbers, she gets one and keep doing it then later on she will do it herselves..
Also I put tapes for my boys to learn ABC .. and he loves to followed the songs they sings...!

She will learn it all in her own time. 23 months of age is kind of early. She really isn't interested in learing her ABC's and 123's. She wants to play. If anything, try introducing coloring to her, or small puzzles. My daughter is 20 months old and she loves to color pictures in coloring books or plain paper. My 3 year old son has several puzzles and she loves to try to fit the pieces together. Sit with her and have fun.

Go to a toy store and buy flash cards; alphabet letters, numbers, colors and shapes. When using them - tell her she is NOT allowed to leave her chair until she completes all of them. If she leaves her chair - then discipline her!

She is not even two years old...she still a BABY she isn't going to think like an adult for a very long time. Quit trying to turn her into a baby genius and LET HER BE A BABY.

same with my daughter, but i think they are small and we should think from their point of view.. i feel that full life once they go to school they have to study than why to spoil their life now .. i mean this is the time for them to enjoy and be tension free... even i try to teach my daughter but the moment she feels tired or i get angry i stop..
I feel once they go to school it should be fine
