4 types of machine will do this.....

they all use the hdmi cable

an " upscaling " dvd / dvdr which will make any dvd " look like hd ", but not 720

hd dvd toshiba which will do both 720 / 1080 ( have to buy the hd dvd ) and can upscale dvd.

blu-ray sony / samsung as above but you will have to buy blu-ray disc

or the new lg machine that does both hd dvd and blu ray discs and will also upscale.

But you will need a hd tv to watch them, for better quality a 1080 tv.

hope this helps wg

There are 2 types an up scaller makes your normall dvd's into a HD quality relsoution eg 720p , a HD player needs a whole new disc and depending on your Tv you can view in HD if you a SOny Bravia X which is ''Full'' HD 1080 , you will see the highest picture and Audio Quiality , When looking for the definintion it is a HD Disc Player allowing you to view picture quality and Audio at the highest rate although you must own a HD player there is also Blu-Ray which is a better Player to invest your money in because it has support of many more Movie Companies.

If your talking about a DVD player with HDMI, its not realy a high def player but a upscale to a better picture. A true high def DVD player is a HD DVD player or blu ray. ps3 has blu ray and the 360 has HD DVD.
