She sleeps next to me every night and wakes me up right before my alarm. Umm but that could also be because I feed her first thing in the morning.

If you go to work, you wake up at certain time in the morning and come home at a certain time in the evening. Your cat's inner clock will take note of these events. That's why our kitties wil wake us up at particualr times in the morning and expect us to be back at a particular time in the evening.

There could be a bit of alarm clock built in.
I sometimes get up early, feed my two before going back to bed, and will occasionally get somebody waking me around the time I normally get up.
Of course there could be a 'just wants food AGAIN' aspect, but I'm not led to where the food is kept with the meowed nagging as usually happens at that time.
So -- next time you're up to pee or what-have-you in the wee hours, lay out the feast, and then see if you get to sleep in...

My cat does the same exact thing. I just came to the conclusion that she's used to being fed at that time, and since she's a little begger, she can't resist to ask me! She gets really persistent; so on the weekends I often feed her late at night, and lock her out of my room :( . I do want to sleep those extra hours.

Most likely hungry. My cats just LOVE to eat. They will wake me up to when they are hungry and the food dish is empty.
