I will answer this question as a Christian.

As a Christian I believe the Bible to be truth (not asking that you agree, just stating what I believe)

According to the Bible the devil/satan is trying to destroy God's creation in any way possible, ultimately his desire is to take as many people to hell, which by the way was created for him, as possible.

One of the ways that he does this is through false religion, every supposed deity other than God Himself is a distraction from the truth, a false path, a road which takes people away from the free gift of salvation given by God, and satan is pretty good at this, hence the multitude and variety of gods on offer.

Of course a god does not have to be a deity as such, may people make money, power etc their god, they worship and desire these things above God and are a similar lie and distraction from the truth.

On the other hand there are a few different devils believed in though, as you rightly say, perhaps not as many as there are gods.

The Egyptians believed in a variety of different devils or evil beings/evil deities as opposed to demons for example.

Hindus believe in asuras, again a being or entity which can commit an evil act.

Chernobog meaning Black God is a mysterious Slavic deity. It is indicated he was a dark and cursed god.

In Buddhism, Mara is the demon who tempted Gautama Buddha by trying to seduce him with the vision of beautiful women.

In Welsh mythology, Arawn was the Lord of the Underworld, which was called Annwn.

These are just a few of the different concepts of the devil/satan etc

God is One.

No one dared so far to claim creating, or being able to create, any single thing, even a hair!! The Creator and The Sustainer of all these Creatures is One only; if there were more than one there would have been confusion in the heavens and the earth! That One is Allah (the only true God).

I wouldn't show you scripture unless there was something that was pertinent, so here it goes:
9Then Jesus asked him, "What is your name?"

"My name is Legion," he replied, "for we are many." 10And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area.

Mark 5:11 A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside. 12 The demons begged Jesus, "Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them." 13 He gave them permission, and the evil spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.

The point being, there were many. Evil spirits = devils, demons.

And then there are untold number here. But the portion of them equalled a third of heaven:
Revelation 12:7 And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9 The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.

There's a Tempter/Tester/Trickster in most, if not all traditions. Loki covers most of Satan's turf in the Asgardian cycles, for example.
