There aren't different types of MPs, and you don't really need to be an MP to be a cop. Most police departments require either college credits or military service. It would certainly help if you had MP experience, but it's not always necessary.

Woof.

The MPs have the Kanine Corps, which today in the job market, would pay out well, also in the Army, you can go into conservation as an MP, but keep in mind, that the MPs today are doing route security and clearance, later on as you get rank, you can go in to MPI, investigator, or CID, criminal Investigation Department for the Army

Theres only one kind of MP in the Army, you get assigned to different types of units. You maybe assigned to a field unit (go to combat), a LE unit (regular cop stuff) or a security unit (like guarding towers, nuke sites, or the DMZ in Korea). Unfortunately you really have no choice in the beginning. Why not just apply with a police dept & go to the police academy that way?

Once you join and go through your training in the MP academy. The civilian police will gladly take you because you will be disciple and know the rope of the law enforcement. I have to say as well why not just join the academy now. You will still have to go through the same system as all the other cadets. Good luck to you.

if paying for the police academy is too expensive then try getting hired by a dept first and they'll pay you salary why you go to the academy and will pay for the academy as well. you don't need to go into the army first, it sometimes is worse and makes it harder to get hired if you were in the army because the way you're trained there is so dramatically different then how you're trained in the police academy that they don't think they can retrain you to think like a cop and not like a soldier.

...you can join a police academy now...get it all done...but the army will put experience under you belt most other cops will not have....mainly people skills...maybe supervisor skills...take you years to get that on a police force as a rookie. The military will pay for you to go to school at night when its available...and buy the books...NO..i am not a recruiter...just an old soldier that knows how to get around high tuition...i also retired at 38 years old...beat that

Might as well join the Infantry. MP is a combat MOS now-a-days.

there are 2 types of MPs.
the first kind is the kind that humiliates our country by letting pictures of prisnors out and making things harder on soldiers who actually face the enemy.
the second kind is the kind who stays in garrison and hassles the real soldiers returning from war and does everything it can to get them in trouble.
which kind do u want to be? both require little or no self respect, and a big helping of spinelessness.
