The DVD region for the UK is region 2. Americans are region 1. However, if you have a DVD player which is region 2 then its possible you can put some codes into it using your remote control to make it play any region. Take a look at http://www.dvdhacks.co.uk

We are in region 2 since that is is the number allocated for Europe and the USA is region 1.
Caution:
You can change the region a limited number of times which is 4,
After changes remaining reaches zero you can not change the region even if you reinstall windows or move your DVD drive to a different computer, for the region will become locked to the last change, take care with this function.

Region 2, but most players and makes can be hacked really easily to make them multi-region. It usually just a question of entering the right combination of numbers into the remote control and entering the engineers menu. Then you can watch anything you like from anywhere you care to import it from! :-)
