If AIDS could be caught that way, an awful lot more of us would have it. You really do not need to worry about normal social contact with HIV pos people; if you worry about catching it through the air you'd have to stay indoors for life, because you don't know who walking down the street might have it.
The punishment thing: In exactly what religion does any form of suffering mean that God is doing it? Ever read the Bible, for instance? The Book of Job, or John 9:1-3. Almost anyone who has gone through anything nasty in their lives has met with the reaction from others that they must in some way have deserved it. God can teach people amazing things through suffering, but leave that to him; it doesn't mean blaming the sufferer.
Personally, I think that if you were friends before, you shouldn't stop being friends now: you should be supportive and encouraging to someone who is terminally ill (Luke 10:30-37 and Matthew 25:37-40).
You can still have phone contact etc. even if you're genuinely phobic about diseases.

That's a terrible thing for you to have done. Do you now feel that it is sinful to contact the Virus which then deserves punishment?
Look, go back to the guy and apologise for your despicable behaviour. Afterall, the circumstances that gave him the virus might not be worse than what you have also done in life but you were just lucky.
You got to know because the guy trusted you and now you want to breach that trust by going out to be a tale bearer. Mind your own business if you cannot comfort the guy ok. The Idea simply sucks.

that is one of the most retarded things I have heard. Obviously, you are connected to the net, so do a little research on it. It's not an airborne disease, it's not spread through physical touch...what is that punishment for? possibly a bad decision, or maybe just a little carelesness. Ever consider the fact that it might not be his fault at all? You shouldn't call yourself a friend. You're not even close to being one. A real friend would try to support him. He's going through enough without sum fake P.O.S. kicking him while he is down. Grow up

You seems to have no awareness about aids problem.
Aids is not transmitted by air, breath or things used, food or utensils etc.
Aids is transmitted to factors l.ike not only unsafe sex with no condom, but also due due to unsterilized needles and blood transfussion during a operation, where a contaminated blood is used.
You should help him in every way at this crisis, because aids will not spread by contact, He might have contacted by accident.

I hope to god you're kidding by all of this...
AIDS is not an airborne illness. It is solely in the blood. It can only be transmitted by sexual activity or mixing of blood (i.e. Sharing needles, becoming "blood brothers", etc.) If you are seriously giving up your friendship with him because of him having AIDS you are a terrible person and you need to become better educated. over 65 million people in the world have been diagnosed with AIDS. There's a chance that more people have it that you know. And I want to know what kind of idiot believes that "God" punishes people by giving them AIDS... you need to go out for a session of electroshock to get you back on track.

assuming you havent been educated,
1. God loves all people reguardless of illness, flaw. If you ever read about Job in the bible, this will teach about this type of thing.
2. AIDS can only be transmitted by Blood or Sexual contact. In other words unless you share needles with your friend you have nothing to worry about.
The LAST thing somebody with AIDS or any other illness needs is less friends.

Whoa! Hey, that's the wrong attitude. I wouldn't want you as a friend. Your friend needs support and people that will care about him, not shun him because he's sick. You should be ashamed of yourself. Oh, and God is watching you and he remembers.
