Yes.
And do not forget. It was God himself who closed the door of the Ark, NOT Noah.
And of all the people who had the chance to join Noah and his family, NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON DID.
His three sons and their wives were all helping to build the Ark.
Is it true?
Jesus himself used it as an example.
Matthew 24; 36-39.

I don't know if people would necessarily prefer to drown.
I consider that perhaps in Noah's day they couldn't conceive of a flood of those proportions, nor could they fathom the need and rescue of the ark. I think perhaps in the same way there are those who can not fathom or really believe the concept of sin and our universal need for a Savior.
It is not our words that will convince them either.
It is the work of the Holy Spirit through our transformed lives that is the real witness. But we cannot leave off the sharing the gospel in language written and/or spoken that is how shall they be saved unless they hear the gospel?
Jesus came not to condemn the world but to save it.

They didn't know they were going to drown, they thought Noah was a crazy man. He sure showed them!

That's the problem. They didn't feel they had any reason to believe him. That is how an Atheist thinks.

The problem with Atheism, it is sometimes the road to despair and hopelessness. It takes a certain kind of person to cope with those beliefs, or lack thereof. Knowing you could drown, even when there is a path to salvation.

No the best example would be the hateful morons who call themselves Christians. They don't know that the ark was an invitation-only affair. They think they're in the ark, and when the rain starts they wonder why it's raining inside the ark.

Are Christians kind of like the ones inside the ark, who watched them drown?

Yeah, I was being rhetorical. I don't believe in the stupid Ark story, just as I don't believe that your God exists, so you can throw me a life preserver if you want, because you like to think I'm drowning, but in reality there's no water.

If someone who lived in a desert could build a ten mile long and 5 mile wide ship that was six stories tall I suppose I would be impressed enough to join into his fantasies and delusions of grandeur.

The story of Noah and the ark is a myth.
Have you stopped to consider the logistical impossibilities the story raises?

In a sense, your question is right-on: atheists do not believe in the fairy tales that so many 'christians' seem to espouse.

Drown in what? We're actually worried that believers are the ones who are drowning in delusion.

Call me crazy but............. I don't accept life preservers that come attached with bodies, maybe if your god was less "Bow or DIIEE!!11" then I'd follow him, til then, I will catch no life preservers covered in infants bodies.

"Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up."
(Hosea 13:16, KJV)

CHRISTIAN LOVE! RIGHT THERE!

God shut them out of the Ark. Genesis 7:16.
He did this because of their wickedness, depravity, violence and corruption.
They didn't have a choice. The choice was made for them, it was sin's penalty.
