I'll give you this, at least you didn't claim that no one has.

Some Christians don't read much of anything, let alone the Bible. They're happy sitting in their pews Sunday listening to the sermon, and figure they'll get everything they need. They're wrong, of course, but there's not much you can do about it.

Some athiests are atheists because that's the currently popular set of beliefs among the West's "cultural elite". They aren't atheists because they actually believe or disbelieve anything - it's just that it's popular.

Neither group really has anything to say that's worth listening to.

Now, before I get excoriated: most of the Christians I know have read the Bible, or at least the New Testament. Most of the atheists I care about (surprise! There are rather a lot of them) are in the same boat, and honestly hold their... uhh... disbeliefs. Them I listen to.

Because on the one hand, you don't have to be a scholar or even literate to join in the fellowship of a congregation. I'm reminded of the time that I went to ask a pastor something about the Bible and he wasn't home, but his wife said, "Don't ask him that. He isn't a Biblical scholar. He's a peoples' pastor." I have to add, he was a good one. A truly compassionate man who went the extra mile for someone in need. That takes inspiration and is something that athiests will either ignore or vigorously deny. This is the "on the other hand"...that they have absolutely no interest in what the Bible might suggest as far as guidelines for living harmoniously with others and prefer to ignore it completely because then they don't have to deal with it at all.

Actually, from my experince, we atheist have likely spent more time reading the bible than most christians. I know the book very well. I would be willing to bet I have more knowledge of christianity, and its history, than most who go to services every Sunday morning.

It was in large part in reading and studying the bible that I ceased to be a Christian.

Open your eyes and read what is there, not just the bits that make good sermons and stories.

I know of many atheists who used to be staunch xians but after reading the bible have changed their ways.

I'll admit that I've not read the bible cover to cover (I fall asleep trying), but I've read many of its passages.

Why do you think so many atheists do not believe the bible contains the truth?
Because they HAVE read it.

how Christo-centric of you.
I don't disbelieve your god any extra amount more than I do all the countless others.
