Why do you think I am up at 2am?

Anyways, I do not know how common this problem is but I have had it as long as I can remember. Things you can try to do that have helped me:

Turn a fan on. The buzzing sound is very relaxing.
Use a small fountain, found at a local store like WalMart.
Relaxation music.

If non-medicinal methods fail, you can always use Melatonin(A natural sleep aid, take it 30 minutes before bed and make sure all lights are off), Dephenhydramine(benadryl) can be useful(found in most sleep aids, best to get an off-brand) or if all else fails, there are a variety of prescriptions you and your doctor can discuss, such as Lunesta.

Yes. I have OCD so it is significantly worse for me. Procrasination and guilt/worry/fear is a big reason that some people can not go to sleep.

Anymore, I get really distracted -a ctually since I got this laptop and wireless internet for Christmas - I found all my old comp games and yahoo answers, and now I do not sleep much - I have to work 12 hour shift at 6, and just did one 7 hours ago, and I iwll not be going to sleep til sometime tomorrow after 6 pm, unless again, I am distracted, then I will sleep Tuesday night -woohoo

I get it in the morngins usually, wake up at around 5am then struggle to get back to sleep worrying about stuff in my mind. One solution could be to do somethign really energetic befre you go to bed, like the gym. That will make you tired more. If your worries thoughts are bothering you a lot consider seeing a doctor, they can help either through therapy or medication.

Good luck.

any sort of depression can be tide over by faith in GOD and sincere prayer.

Your prayer is from your heart. Further You must have to understood the fact that God is present in our heart. This can be realised in meditation. Further we are the creation of our own destiny. As per Hindu sacred religion, we carry all good and bad deeds life after life. There is no end unless we pray for unification of self with the divineliness.
Hence there is always a possible way to complete mergence with God in this life by a simple and wonderful meditation

Yes I have developed some tricks for those nights. You have to make your mind do something it doesn't want to do and it will get fed up and turn itself off. Here's one. 100, 0, 99, 1, 98,2,97,3.... and so on .You can go all the way to 0,100 but i'm usually asleep before I get to 50,50. Try that and see if it works for you.

Yes. It happens to me all the time. I'm realllly sleepy and laying in bed trying to fall asleep but for some reason I can't. I start thinking on all the things I could've thought when I was awake.
