I bought a 3months old puppy last week, the pet shop fed him with royal canin. I heard that Canidae All-stage is a better quality pet food so I started to mix 3/4 of royal canin with 1/4 of canidae. But my puppy always left the canidae in the bowl and won't eat it. What's the problem?

At three months old, he likely has loose teeth. Canidae is more dense than royal canine, so requires more chewing. (harder to crunch) Pour hot water over the kibble and feed when it cools a bit..You will need to soften it this way until he has new teeth.
It has nothing to do with taste..it is just a more compact harder kibble. That is likely why it keeps my dog's teeth so sparkling white. It isn't fluffed up with air and fillers.

You can see at the bottom of this page, that Royal Canine rates only a little lower than Canidae> http://www.connecticutk9.com/dogfood.htm

Does Canidae make a puppy food or maybe a different flavor? I would suggest trying that but if it doesn't, Royal Canin is a pretty good food and if your pup likes it and is doing well on it, don't hesitate to keep feeding him that.

Your puppy is probably just finding the food untasty. Royal canin isnt as hard as canidae. Puppies teeth arent as strong as adults, and It may be causing discomfort to his teeth. If you want to make him eat it, add some dog gravy (avaliable at pet stores) or water to it.

He is still adjusting to a new home, a new food right now may be too much to soon for the pup. I was told by the vet not to make any changes for at least 2 months at that age. My baby is real picky eater I had to try several foods before she would eat well, luckily she now eats a great healthy food. Good luck and don't give up just slow down.

just like humans we all have our own tastes...

alhtough the ne food is bettr your dog dislikesthe smell / taste of it so lookfor an evne higher grade food or equally good food - but first ask for sample bags from the store/ dealers - or go to local dog shows thers always TONNES of freebee taste testers going around ( they are for the dog not you )

Make some of the "master's special sauce" and put that on top. My dogs go crazy for it. If you make a "big batch" you can store some and drizzle it on next time.

Dogs. like us, have preferences too.
One of my dogs loves sweet things & hates cheese whereas the other hates sweet things & loves cheese.

DOGS CAN BE JUST AS STUBBORN AS PEOPLE. mY DOG WON'T EAT ANY THING SHE DOESN'T LIKE.THEY SAY TO GIVE HER PILLS WRAPPED IN MEAT. FORGET IT. SHE EATS THE MEAT AND SPITS OUT THE PILL. JUST GIVE THE DOG WHAT HE / SHE WILL EAT & NO TABLE SCRAPS IF YOU CAN. I WISH NOW THAT I HAD FOLLOWED THAT ADVISE.MY DOG IS SPOILED ROTTEN. . .& THAT IS NOT A GOOD THING.
