Why is he adored as great sage?

Dacoit Ratnakar changed when he was asked who will take the burden of his misdeed and nobody including his parents were unwilling to take the responsibility that he changed to a good human. He was adored because his deeds after the change. It shows that everyone has a chance in life to change for good.

The police lockups and imprisonments in jails changed the Dacoits. New beginners, thiefs, robbers adored the hard core dacoits for their unforgettable service to the profession and training/guiding freshers.

Ratnakars profession was dacoity. He robs the people and with the money he maintains his family. One day when he was above to rob the belongings of a saintly persons, he tells him that the profession is not good and he accumulates lot of sin which he has to suffer himself. He was asked to verify from his wife and other family members whether they will share a part of the sin.
When he enquires from his wife, she replies that to maintain and feed the family is his bounded duty and in the process he commits any sin he alone is exclusively responsible.
With this he was shocked and turned to be a noble person.
He did penace for several years and during the course his whole body was covered by clay and it became like a snake borough. In Sanskrit this borough is called VALMIKAM.
Since he came out of it he was called Valmiki. He wrote the great epic Ramayana.. Till now it is revered as greatest epic by Hindus. He had lived during the period of Lord Rama.

Therefore he was adored as a great sage.
