I know someone that is fighting extradition in North Carolina to Missouri. How long does it usually take to extradite? He has been held in a North Carolina jail for almost 6 weeks! Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The problem is he is fighting it, it can take weeks, even a few months if he keeps filing various motions and the such.

but in the end he will be back in Missouir

The sooner he stops fighting it the faster he gets back

The longer he fights extradition, the longer he will stay in jail. Missouri has a valid warrant or North Carolina would not be holding him. He needs to sign his waiver of extradition, go to MO and get it over with.

Article IV of the Constitution requires states to honor valid extradition requests. He's going to remain in custody as long as he's fighting the extradition.

If he stops contesting the extradition, it'll take less than a day.
