It means wordly wisdom, a different wisdom other that the one God desires (ie Godly wisdom). People who trust and rely on worldly wisdom cannot accept God's wisdom because certain things simply appear nonsensical to them. For example, if God says that to surrender to him is victory, they finds it unacceptable. If he says that to be a leader is to be a servant, they find it unacceptable too cos they want leadership for self-glory or self-satifisaction. If God says that you can get salvation by believing and participating in Jesus' death and resurrection through baptism, they find it foolish too because they can't believe anything could be free in the world and it is absurdity to them. Some can't accept that God can have emotion, which they think, would mean that they can be manipulated by man. It is all men's sinful tendency too to trust in our own judgement, perception, intuition, logical reasoning than to trust God. Thus, sometimes, the more educated a person is, sometimes the more he is hindered by his worldly wisdom to believe in God. I have talked to scientists in Singapore who knows so much more than many others of the marvel of life etc yet find it so hard to believe it's all from a creator. Hope this helps. It is my first time answering a question on Yahoo.^^

Our wisdom is not and never will be equivalent to God's. Darkness is all we know until we meet Him in a personal experience and until we count on His wisdom more than our own knowledge of worldly things, we are not getting to know Him who IS wisdom. People always think they can run their own lives. How often do you see anyone include God in their daily activities or a new business venture, etc. ?

There are a few demonstrations of worldly wisdom right here in this posting. I am speaking of the answers. The world thinks that they are smart, so smart that they think that they don't need God. God has a name for those people... Look in the Bible.

The things of God are too deep for the wisdom of this world to comprehend.
that's why He makes the wisdom of this world foolishness

1 Corinthians 1:21. it is talking about spiritual ignorance. In this verse it really talks about the foolishness of human wisdom.

Any wise rational thinking human being will realize the idea of God makes no sense. Wisdom is seeing things as they are without delusional rationalizations.

Does this question relate in anyway to the passage that goes something like: "He will use foolish things to confound the wise."?--I see this for one example in people who insist we evolved from a lower creature rather than accepting our creator.
