We are on holiday from New Zealand and need some local advise. Need to know how long it's going take to drive and what the distance is and which route we should take? Thank you.

I'll make it simple....It is an 8 hour trip.

While there are cheaper ways to do this tollwise (such as going through New Jersey and Pennsylvania), your best best, as tourists, would be to stay on the New York State Thruway (in NYC, Major Deegan / I-87 North...go up 1st Avenue and once you get on the Willis Avenue Bridge, stay to your left side, the Deegan will be to your left.). After Albany, the Thruway turns into I-90 (West)..it is seamless, you just keep driving.

Once you get past the Williamsville tolls (outside of Buffalo) get out at Exit 53 (I-190 North / Buffalo). Stay on I-190 until exit N21 (Niagara Falls).

The grand total of tolls is $16.65 (or $15 if your vehicle is equipped with EZ-Pass).

There are cheaper alternatives to this, but to be on the safe side, just stick to the Thruway...it's just one thing to do for the most part.

I am going to say about 4-6 hours. Last summer we traveled from New Jersey, 20 minutes from NYC to Elmira and that took about 5 hours. Then we traveled from Elmira to Niagara Falls and that took about 2 hours. But I think you could make the drive straight from NYC to Niagara State Park in no more than 6 hours.

I do not remember the route exactly, but whenever we travel we always stick to major highways.

Have Fun!

8-10 hours depending on traffic. Sorry, I can't help with the route though. I've never driven there, only flow, I just remember that my friend said it takes her about 8 to 10 hours to get there when she drives.

It only takes three hours. You take interstate 59 torn left at Niagra, and then straight to the horseshoe.
