Can he be what he wants to be, regardless of what humans expect or think they know, or is he bound by the bible and enslaved by his followers perceptions? If the latter were true would you pity such a being? If the former were true, would you believe he hasn't changed at all in over 2000 years?

Great question.

A great many people stand up and claim to be the only mouthpiece through which the wisdom of god, the universe, of our ancestors speak.

Utter garbage. No one stands between you and the universe.

Yet when you are dealing with institutional ignorance, of people using beliefs to abuse, hurt and sometimes murder others, it is a battle that cannot be abandoned.

No matter how much logic is used, no matter how many facts show the terrible evil and lies of many religions (see

unfortunately many still write with confidence about matters of which they know little.

Again, great question.

Hello Heyden

God is not enslaved by anyone's perception. People can only enslave themselves by their perceptions.

God is bound by the bible because He is bound by His word and the bible is the revelation of His word to humanity.
He does not bend to suit our will. Instead He invites us to find out His will.

God is truth. If truth changed it would cease to be truth.
He is Eternal, He does not change.
Time has no bearing on truth. If it did, then your ideas and beliefs would be rejected one day simply on the basis of how much time passed.
One day, the words you just wrote will be 2,000 years old. Is this a good reason for anyone to scoff at your beliefs? I don't think so. Your beliefs should stand or fall based on it's own merits.
And so God's word must be judged by the same standards.

Bound? Enslaved? We are bound and enslaved by the Bible, by religious zealots who preach their way is the only way to God.

God is who He is, regardless of what humanity labels him as.

He said: "I am, who am." God is the Alpha and Omega, was in the beginning, middle, and end. He knows and sees all, He can read your thoughs and finish your sentence.

He even gives you free will and lets you choose if you want to love Him or not.

God hasn't changed at all. God will do what He says that He will do. The Bible is true. He is not enslaved by us. And you don't have to pity God.

God is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is no liar so indeed His word is truth. He has the same characteristics as he always has. He doesn't change, nor does He desire to. When you are perfect you should remain perfect. He however, is not enslaved by his followers. His word is truth and He stays true to His word.

I think He has a choice of whether to be good or bad or whatever else, but He, being love, chooses to be good. He isn't "enslaved" by it, He just chooses it because of His nature.

Excellent question. But, I would have to assume that this god of which you speak is real to answer yes or no. Besides, you didn't state which religion you are referring to. If you are talking about Jesus, then let him answer.

God is free to do whatever He can within the constraints of His own being. God is not free to lie because His very nature is Truth. God is not free to kill Himself or destroy Himself because He is eternal and self-existing. Also, God is not free to be not-God because He is God!

God simply is.

If you want to know who God is, in your life, try the following several times a day for a while:

"God, I don't know who you are, please reveal yourself to me."

God has no restrictions on himself, after all He created all.

Good luck on your crest.
