What you need to do is move on from your first love... not forget it. Everything in life is a learning experience, and you grow from the past events that you've gone through.

I understand that first loves are painful, just like any other love lost can be, and the best way to move on and feel better about that portion of your life is to reacquaint yourself with what it's like to be independent and function again on your own. You did it before you met the person who was your first love, so you can do it again afterwards.

Find a new hobby or two, immerse yourself in a good book with a warm cup of cocoa (or cool cup of iced tea if the weather's warm!), make new friends or visit with old ones. The main idea is to keep yourself busy enough so that you don't end up spending half your day reflecting on the past, but thinking about the present and the future.

You will never forget your first love no matter what. Time, distance, and people are the components of new memories and another love is not required for these memories. It could happen and probably will, but the richness of your life is defined by you and no one else.

Find something you love to do to keep your mind off your first love. Keep yourself busy. As time passes, the sting of his memory will fade and you will hopefully remember him with fondness, but no regrets. Good luck, hon.
