i cook all day at work, and i like it. my apt sucks, the kitchen is as big as a closet, so no i dont really cook at home. i would love too, just dont have the room, or the time. i have worked as a cook for 4 yrs now. and if i have an idea for something to make, i buy what i need and take it to work, i got the whole kitchen to play with!!!! if i had a bigger kitchen at home, i would make everything under the sun!!!!!

Having been there done that, I have to say that while I was employed as a chef I didn't do a lot of cooking at home. I was sort of burned out by it. I would only cook on Sunday maybe brunch and then dinner. I still love it and loved it when I was doing it full time. If you really have a passion for it, you may get tired of doing it all the time, but you'll still find pleasure in cooking for yourself and your friends. Dont get burned out.

For as long as I can remember, I've been a good cook. It just comes naturally to me. I worked as a grill-man at Red Barn in Springfield Oh. I loved it. Now I cook dinners at church on Wednesdays. I enjoy all the compliments. I enjoy both eating at home and eating out. I always compliment the chef, when a compliment is due. I hope this answers your most interesting question.

Although many of my kitchen coworkers say that they no longer cook at home, their passion for cooking in the restaurant kitchen isn't necessarily diminished. It does become more difficult to cook at home, when at work one has access to a far greater variety of equipment and ingredients.
As for me, cooking in my tiny kitchen is how I unwind after a long day of cooking for strangers. After a decade in the business, I still love it, cooking both on and off the job.
Being creative is such a joy. To be paid for it... what a blast!

It does. I have few friends that are chefs in restaurants here in NY and they complain about have always to talk about food, give recipes and being invited to parties where they are asked to give a "help" in the kitchen. One of this friend does not cook in home anymore just at work. He eats out and frequently orders food to be delivered to his home.

it depends on the crap quotient of the day. good days, my husband and i put on some music, open some wine, and cook dinner together. bad days, i sit and talk while my husband makes spaghetti or fajitas or we may go out. even though i do it all day, it's still therapeutic when i do it at home on my own time, with no dopey staff to get in the way and not having to explain things a million times. i love cooking no matter what, but for me it's the external factors.
