My roommate claims to be able to tell the difference in the scents of our dogs farts. She says she can't tell the difference in two of them and they eat diffrent foods. Does anyone believe this?

I think I'd just look at her and say, "Alrighty, then!" and keep moving.
Do they make doggy beano, btw? lol Maybe, you guys should check into it. lol

Yes I do believe especially since the dogs both eat different things. Just like humans we all react differently to different things in more ways than one! Dogs do just the same. Each dogs reacts diffrently to certain kinds of food so some will fart and some won't, some will have smelly farts and some won't smell at all. Just like how a human farts!

well I can't tell the difference between my dogs farts but I know when one of them laid on though! I think all dogs smell the same regardless of what food they are on.

Yes, I can do the same between our dogs it's their digestive system and the differences in that [I had to ask the vet cause I thought I was nuts at first too] : )

Well... This is certainly something I've never had the chance to experience... And I don't think I even want to experience it!
But it's probable.
Why don't you look for someone as curious (or eccentric) as your friend there and run some tests?

Our fox terrier will lie on the couch beside my husband and drop her guts and not move, while we gag. Then, when my husband does the same, the dog rushes outside in disgust: go figure!!

I live with a houseful of huge dogs. I don't feed anything with corn or soy, or I would be outside!
