Your child can't talk to you so thy communicate with crying.Don't try to controll the baby's crying instead learn what each cry means(pain,hunger,sleepy...) It may take a while to figure this out but you will be able to quiet your baby much sooner if you automatically know whats wrong.Keep in mind that baby's need to be held, comforted, and loved and they will cry for your attention and I don't care what anyone tells you about spoiling your child when they need attention it is very crucial that you give it to them.
take this advice and I promas you and your baby will be happier!

If by controlled crying you mean leaving a baby to cry it out on their own... absolutely not. The only thing you succeed in doing that is breaking the baby's spirit. Babies need to be held and adored and sometimes they need that attention at inconvenient times, like 2am.

Yes. There are sometimes when you should just let the baby cry...check them of course, make sure there's no legit reason for them to be crying..but don't pick them up and console them everytime they cry or you're going to have a baby crying at you every 10 minutes.

No I dont.
Babies cry for a reason and it is our job as parents to figure it out and deal with whatever makes them cry.
Babies are not manipulative and dont cry just to annoy us, crying is their sole form of communication. They themselves dont know what is wrong and they verbalise their pain, uncomfortableness, tiredness, needing affection, hunger, the only way they know how.

I believe that babies are like anybody else - they'll use what works to get what they want. If crying does the trick, then why shouldn't they keep doing it? :-)
