i want to get my diamonds from my ring set onto a band that matches my wedding band. there are 3 diamonds and some baguettes, if that affects price at all. it would be just a regular band that i found and love, not one that already had stones on it or anything.

also, can they set the diamonds so that they sit a bit higher up than the ones on my wedding band?

Go to a diamond expo. Sometimes the jewelry stores will bring in a special show one w/e. They will have hundreds of diamonds (the one I went to had 4 million dollars in diamonds)--since we wanted a diamond that was of a lil higher caliber than the normally carry in the store. And they had over 500 different settings. Since it was at a special show like that the price was lower--but still somewhere around $300 depending on what you like. But it's probably going to range b/t $300 and $800.

The biggest thing is that you have so many diamonds to set so they would have to add prongs on the setting for each diamond. And it would be a lot of labor for each diamond to be mounted.

Yes it is very easy for them to set the diamonds higher as they are already building the prongs to begin with. It's not much more difficult.

However, due to the high cost it might be easier just to get a different wedding band or to consider dipping your engagement ring. You don't say why it doesn't match and if it was something like "brushed silver", or banding, or titanium--then this suggestion doesn't work. But if the problem is one is gold and one is white gold, consider getting the engagement ring dipped in white gold to match. That would be cheaper.

But just so you know, I'd save up the money and do it. I wanted mine to match and if you are going to wear these forever you should get them to match if that matters to you. Yeah it might take a few months to save up, but I'd still do it.

But definitely go to some special diamond shows. They have sooo many different settings there that you just don't find in a jewelry store. Good luck!

Semi mounts are pricey!!! You can expect to start at about $300 and up considering you have more than one stone to set. We were just looking at men's mountings for a 1/3 ct. diamond a week ago and even the lower cost ones were $289 and up. Good luck. Visit several jewelry stores before deciding. Gold is expensive and not getting cheaper so buy soon or expect to pay twice the amount in a few years.
