It's in the Northern Territory the nearest major centre is Alice Springs. There is an airport (Yulara) with daily direct flights to most major centres. There is also a resort (Yulara Resort) which is where you will stay if you decide to stay the night. It is owned and operated by voyages (google them for rates and further info). The resort is 20 km from the rock. Tours are available. It is a must see along with Kata Tjuta which is 50km from Uluru and 45km from the resort.

Ignore the person who said it was near Ayers Rock. It is Ayers Rock. No photograph or film you have ever seen of it does it justice. It is just so much bigger and more mysterious than you ever imagined.
