I got my nose pierced about 2 weeks ago, and it was barely red two days later. I have been doing sea salt soaks multiple times a day, and avoiding putting makeup or anything near it.

It randomly got red again and looks (although it might be my paranoid imagination) a little bit swollen.

It doesn't hurt, there is no blood or discharge.

I did accidentally yank on it with a makeup cloth when i was wiping my makeup off recently. Oh man, did it hurt! Could it just be irritated because of that?

it's not hugely swollen. in fact, i could just be imagining the swelling because i am paranoid.

it isnt tender, it isnt crusty, it doesnt hurt, its not discharging or bleeding. its just red.

could it also be from the sea salt soaks? my skin always gets red and irritated after swimming in the ocean.

It very well would be irritated because of the yank. I'd keen a close eye on it, though. Signs of infection include reddness, tenderness, and discharge.

The salty water is a good idea.

Then, what you need to do is to press the spot so you can really see if something comes out. If it is the case, DON'T remove the piercing and go back to your studio for more advices, the nose is a very sensitive place, so you should get professional advice.

If nothing comes out, just avoid using make-up at all for a week or two, clean it with betadine and clean the betadine with salty or steryl water. Low percentage peroxyde (1 or 2 percent) can do the trick. Avoid alcohol and soap, definitely.

If you ever realize the holes are getting bigger, you might be rejecting it, go to your piercer.

If it turns purple, you're in it GO to your piercer.
