I agree. Many of the things that they label as wrong and evil are just their opinions. They use these opinions to try to control others through guilt.
For instance, one or two alcoholic drinks in the privacy of one's own home generally cause no harm and can even be good for you. Yet many christians (and yes, I know many of them personally) will tell you that even one drink is a sin.
Christians claim that homosexuality is wrong and evil, yet many homosexuals and lesbians lead stable lives and are together longer than heterosexual couples (again, I know people on both sides).
I personally enjoy playing Dungeons and Dragons and other roleplaying games. For this simple pleasure that harms no one, I am repeatedly told that I am inviting Satan into my life and opening myself up to demon possession, among other things. So far, none of these things have happened.
The list goes on and on. Religion in general is used to control people and make them act in certain ways.

Unless your definition of fun and enjoyment are all the vices and sinful bebaviour that God is against, why should you think that Christianity is a killjoy? I've been a Christian for many years and I don't feel the least controlled. Christians can have fun within the moral boundaries that God has provided for our own good and protection.

You want fun? Sexual "fun" leads to AIDS and other sexual diseases. Then you come under the control of these diseases. Adultery leads to divorces and family upheavals. How much fun is that? Some people enjoy killing people, certainly not much fun for those on the receiving end!

It's about time you have your wrong ideas about Christianity straightened up!

At first I had thought the same thing, but I found liberation through Jesus Christ. I try to dedicate my life towards God and in return I live a much more fulfilling life than I used to. Guilt leads to correction and an overall better lifestyle. There are a lot of things which are fun and are not sinful. The activities that I have banished from my life were not at all healthy to begin with.

My whole like is full of joy, knowing that God is there. I also have fun worshiping Him. The things that Christianity does not accept are things of the flesh, which almost always lead to pain. I do not feel controlled at all, but instead fully alive knowing the good news.

No, I do not see it that way. We do not condemn anyone. We tell people what God thinks about things. Laws of God are here to protect us. We do not want people to feel guilty over everything fun, we just want to let you know what God expects from you. God loves you.
This life is not about you.

Christianity is not a controlling, but rather, freeing concept.

Prior to receiving Jesus as Lord, I couldn't really say no to my passions. Whatever vices I had, I indulged in them without remorse. Some of these were destroying my life and family.

Only after Jesus got my attention, and saved me, was I able to say no to the very passions that enslaved me.

Paul concurs when he said, "For when you were slaves of sin, you were free as far as righteousness was concerned. What benefit did you get from doing those things you are now ashamed of? For those things resulted in death. But now that you have been freed from sin and have become God's slaves, the benefit you reap is sanctification, and the result is eternal life." (Romans 6:20-22)

No actually Jesus came to set me free- Free from sin, free from shame, free to live for Him- I chose to live for Jesus because He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. It was for freedom that Christ died. Actually if you were a believer you would understand that God wants the best for us, and until you come to know His son, you will not be living an abundant life.

What is really controlling is Satan's wicked system of things. Of who your boss works for, of who your military and govt are directly submissive to. The controlling drugs that your doctor prescribes or your local drug dealer peddles or the credit debt you have been tricked into submerging yourself with. God begs you to free yourself from all of these controlling snares that eventually kill you. He is the one who frees you from this tyranny. Get it straight your very life depends on it.

It's all wordly things that you enjoy. Things that lead to pain and the bad things that happen in this world. The whole reason we have so much hatred, molestations, lust, adultry and many other sins is because of those thing that you enjoy. Is it controlling to want what is best for your children? Well that is how God feels. He wants what is best for all of us. He doesn't want us to harm ourselves or others.

No it has freed me from my own guilt I used to put on myself. I am not under rules and regulations anymore. However, there are many Christian churches that do impose rules and guilt, so I understand where you are going, but do not generalize, please. The concept of Christianity is grace, mercy and forgiveness. There is therefore NO condemnation in Christ Jesus.
