A cube has 4 diagonals. For each diagonal, use 4 straws, with the egg at the center. Use a bit of tape near the ends. Then use 24 more straws, making 40 in all, to finish making the cube. Use the rest of the tape to make very sturdy vertices. The theory behind this is that when a corner or corners of the cube impacts the floor, the egg will slide inside the diagonal straws, so that the impact is greatly moderated.

Use some straws (w/ tape) to create a sort of container for the egg. Then, cut up the rest of the straws into tiny bits to cushion the inside of the container and the egg. "Popcorn".

im not exactly sure....this seems to work in my head:
make a structure directly surrounding the egg then another some distance from the egg, until you run out of stuff.

No idea, but please use a/an correctly. You missed it here and should have asked "... an egg..." instead of "... a egg... ."
