Chi (also know as Ki) is your life force or spirit energy. It is that spark of life that allows you to achieve things that you normally cannot. It is commonly believed that your Chi resides in the first Chakara or root Chakara, which is located at the base of your spine. When you breath in your Chi travels up through your spine through your other Chakaras until it reaches your 7th Chakara at your crown (top of your head) and then as you exhale it travels back down to your root Chakara.

In Martial Arts, the person yells to focus their Chi into the blow to do more damage.

Did you mean "Qi"? It is difficult to translate according to the "Foundations of Chinese Medicine". Energy, material force, matter, ether, matter-energy, vital force, life force, vital power, moving power are the discriptions in the book. I think of it as the electrical energy of the life force of the body. It feels like a cold chill or an electrical energy that runs though the body.

The stuff in a chi tea latte. ;-) (Just kidding!)

Chi (AKA Qi, or Ki) is the primordial life force that is believed to be part of every living thing that exists. The ancients considered Qi to represent the mutual relationship, mutual effect, mutual support, mutual exchange, mutual replenishment, mutual correction, mutual transformation and mutual renewal of all things in the universe.

Feng shui is concerned with the flow of chi in your enviromnent for example.
