Column widths affect the whole spreadsheet but you can merge two cells together on the first row to effectively increase the width for a title or whatever.

Select one or more cells on the row you want to change by shift-clicking each cell Right click on the cells and choose "format cells". Go to the alignment tab and click the "merge cells" check box toward the bottom of the window then click "OK". You should then be able to treat the merged cells like a single cell.

Two ways

1) Lets say you want to make column "G" wider. Place you mouse pointer on the line between G and H column labels, left click and drag the column to the right.

2) Highlight the column(s) or a cell (s) in the column(s)
Format (on menu bar)> Column> Width > enter new column width

Dear Excell is a Spreadsheet when you change the size of 1st column in 1st row then its automatically affect the 2nd row.

you cant stopped it but there is alternate way to overcome this problem. If you only want to increase the size of 1st column in 1st row (Eg A1) then there is a option of "Merge & Centre" in Formatting Toolbar.

Select 2 column in 1st row & click "Merge & Centre" option.

highlight the column, side click, go down to change width, and type in new specs. will not change the width of 2nd column, may change position.

Easiest way to fit column A to its content is move the mouse over the border between cols a and b and double click. If that wont do for you click and drag the border to desired width.

You can also drag columns and rows by placing your cursor on the line below/beside, holding down your mouse and dragging it to what ever you want. You can also highlight a column/row and go to FORMAT at the top and click on ROW/COLUMN and adjust it.

You can drag each individual cell, or you can drag the whole column or row (by clicking A or 1, or whatever)

this is going to purely try this if the a1 is replaced via $a$a million i.e. turns into an absolute reference. the way you have completed it could have the formulation in A3 bearing on A2, the formulation in A4 bearing on A3 etc using fact A1 is straight away as much as date once you click and drag. $A$a million is an absolute reference and could continuously confer with the contents of A1 whether you drag it down or around the spreadsheet
