When you can't. I imagine being put in a choke hold by matt hughes, and quickly fall asleep.

LOl! That's funny.
I imagine I'm in the grocery store and think of items that start with the letter "A".
Then I think of things that start with the letter "B'. I go through the alphabet doing that until I fall asleep'

I tell myself, that everything I think of, I'll get a lifetime supply of free.

I usually fall asleep somewhere in the middle of the "C"s.

It works great!

i usually don't sleep. But if you must. Naturally.. . take a long hot bath with dim lights. Drink some night time tea and actually if you drink warm milk (nothing added ie; chocolate ) it has something in it that will help you sleep. Another thing is to only use the room you sleep in for sleep. This teaches your body that when your in this room you sleep and nothing else. Trust me I'm am insomniac. Or chemically you can take all kinds of prescribed pills or over the counter pills. Everything else is illegal or unsafe.

I use a yoga meditation CD called PM Yoga Meditations by Gael Chiarella. It has 4 meditations that are 15 minutes each. It begins with deep breathing and moves through relaxation techniques. i can't really tell you what the 3rd and 4th meditations are, because literally every time I use it, I'm so deeply relaxed during the 3rd one that I can hear her voice (which is amazingly calming, by the way) but it doesn't keep me up, and by the 4th one I'm asleep. At some point, I know I wake up because my headphones and CD player are by my bedside, but I'm so deeply relaxed I have no memory of it.

I try meditation....

i usually imagine myself being dipped into dark water where there is not any stress.

but if matt hughes put me in a choke hold i'm pretty sure I would pass out...... :) (yes I am a girl and I DO know who he is)

Go on Yahoo answers for about an hour. Try to encourage someone who needs help. Then you will feel good about having helped somebody. You'll fall asleep happy. I think what keeps many people awake is simply thinking and worrying about stuff.

To get a good sleep:
Work our before bed
Take a hot shower
Release sexual tension
TV

Do not take any sleeping pills or drowsy medication because these can mess up the natural sleep habits and also become addictive. Which means you'll allways need them.

If I can't sleep I will drink something warm like hot chocolate. For some reason a little something on my stomach helps me doze off. Water works too. Don't know why.

I have really bad insomnia, so I take meds prescribed by my shrink every night. 900 Mg's. of Gabapentin, 10 Mg's. of Doxepin, and if I still can't sleep 1 Mg's. of Ambien.
I don't really like taking all those meds, so sometimes I stay awake for a couple of days, and wait until I can't stand myself anymore. ( I get real irritable and easily angered from lack of sleep.)

I put on my white noise machine, wrap up in my favorite really soft Minnie Mouse blanket, making sure my back and feet are covered, and think about what I'll do on my next day off. :)

I pretend that I am being chased and then beaten up. Then the 'guys' who are in charge of me also throw a few punches, drag me home, and question what I was doing and why I did drugs again....the story goes on...................
