This is too funny! I agree, even though I am female and was a young girl at one time! I absolutely loathed just about every girl in my h.s. because I wasn't into the 2 faced/backstabbing scene. My best friends were guys (still are!) because they simply didn't talk/act like that and neither did I.
I think it may be all the hairspray, hair color, nail polish fumes, perhaps all that makeup contains toxic chemicals that retard their brains!
Some girls really do act that way just to be popular and get attention (good or bad). Looks like it got your attention! Don't worry they will mostly grow out of it and when they do it will go straight from airhead to b*tch. Just you wait and see!

Not all girls are flakes. The right girl is always honest and everything. It just seems kind of hard to you right now to find a girl that isn't one.

Define flakes? If you mean they aren't up on the things you like that's simply a matter of interests. Guys are interested in lots of things girls think are stupid or wastes of time and vice versa. *shrug*

maybe because...i dont know.
personally, i would feel shy and nervous, so flaking out is the only thing i would be able to think of. dont take it personally, if a girl acts super nervous or "flakey" around you, chances are she likes you even more!
just be patient and build frienships with girls so they feel comfortable, and not so much pressure.
