Just was driving home from work, and the car sounded louder then usual. LIke there may be a leak in the exhaust. It is more noticiable when Accelerating, but does seem to be intermitant. I made sure all the spark plugs were in tight and they are. I can't seem to find the source of the noise. Any suggestions?

Intermittent exhaust noise is usually due to a ruptured egr feed tube. With the engine running, carefully run your hand along the metal pipe that comes off the bottom of the EGR valve and leads to the exhaust manifold. These are known to rust out and split.

The noise is probably coming from the A/C belt. Ford had a problem with this in the Escort, Taurus and Tempos. The condition is caused by the A/C pulley being out of alignment due to the unequal length of the compressor mounting bosses. I would take this to Ford and let them confirm this and do the repair.
Take care

does it sound like a air leaking hiss ?

The escort had issues with one of the vaccum lines on top developing a cut over time in it and will cause the noise before the check engine light comes on.. then the car won't idle...

get it checked out to be sure
