Check the handset and the handset cord they tend to go bad with time. If that doesn't work then try the set in another jack, or replace the phone.

Give it a test call also see if the person callin can hear you, if they can it definatly is the handset. If not the id suggest the entire phone needs replaced.

I'd say the Landline Phone is kaput
May be that the cord is damaged
Try another Phone

It sounds to me as though the circuit that makes the phone ring is working fine, but the connection to the earpiece is dead. Get a new phone.

Assuming the phone on the wall is a wired one, and not wireless, then it's probably a fault in the phone itself. Might as well spring for a new one.

I verify the caller id. So if this is somebody i don't be attentive to, i be attentive to the thank you to start conversing. occasion:Ring ring "howdy HOWS A GOING!!!" What if that become a incorrect huge style? Lol =)
