Choosing a wedding day is as personal as choosing your partner. What appeals to you both? Do you want to marry on your birthday, on Valentines Day, on Christmas Eve? Do you want a summer wedding? June has always been a popular month, and it might be difficult to find all your vendors available at short notice.Sometime you have to be practical and plan a wedding aroung a scheduled vacation from work. What flowers do you like? Daisies bloom in Summer. Spring is full of flowers, and you might be able to incorporate some from your own yards inexpensively into your own wedding. I see Dogwood blossoms. Fall weddings are nice if you like that time of year. You can use silk or fresh leaves, pumpkins, gourds, wheat, etc...maybe a backdrop of a big, harvest moon. Christmas seems hectic enough, unfortunately, but most churches are already beautifully decorated. There's no clear answer here. You two will have to sit down and decide what works best for you.

Talk to your fiance do either of you have a favourite season? This is a good start. then check the availability of facilities that can house your guest list. When you find one line it up. If you want an out door wedding the weather will also play a part in your decision. If you really have no preference find a facility you love and work around their schedule many of these places book up way in advance so you may be looking quite a while down the road. Also try not to line it up with other immediate family b-day's etc or other weddings.

Pick a place first, and then see what days they have available. No matter what day you pick it will be special to you in the future. Just do NOT be rude and pick a holiday weekend and ruin everyone else's plans just so you can save some money. There is a reason they are the cheapest and the last taken. Most people are not rude.

You can pick a special day such as your anniversary, or maybe the month you two met.

Try to avoid popular wedding dates because they can book fast and are popular, such as 7-07-07.

We picked June of 2008 two years ago because we needed time to save money. Also, if you want to book a certain venue, you can also pick your date on the dates they have available.

You might also want to consider out of town guests. Is there someone who is important for you to have at your wedding, but may have children in school? This was a problem when my nephew got married in another state. I couldn't pull my son out of school for the 4 days it would have taken for the travel and the wedding. I very sadly missed his wedding.

The Chinese believe that the number 9 is very good for wedings. It means longevity. They think 4 is bad luck because the word for 4 sounds like the word for death.

Don't most brides like to get married in warm weather so they don't have to hide their dress under a coat?

Know where you would like the wedding and the reception. Know the best time for you two to get away. Know what season you like as far a s colors. Know where you might like to honeymoon and the best time for that. Combine all the factors to get the dates to consider then check for availability of the locations. Go!

If you're in the south, pick any Saturday that does not coincide with the opening day of football, turkey, deer or duck seasons....preferably in the winter so it's not some darn hot.
