He's gonna send that new "Army of One" we've been hearing so much about.
Nah. I hear he's thinking about conscripting a bunch of libs as a diversionary force, sending them all to northern Baghdad with flowers and sign placards to protest all the violence. While they are getting slaughtered, our brave men and women with the guns will attack from the flank.

The sad fact is, no matter how many troops Bush sends, it won't stem the violence completely. Slow it down slightly, but that's all.
Military force won't solve the problem engulfing Iraq now. What is needed is a political solution which involves all sides in Iraq talking, and the US and its "allies" out of Iraq COMPLETELY.

4,000 are going to Iraq and 4,000 are going to Afganistan and their mission will be to train the locals to be police officers and soildiers. They won't be part of the fight unless they are attacked. The 4,000 going to Afganistan is part of the requests from the NATO commander on the ground. The rest of NATO had ran out of troops. The 4,000 going to Iraq is part of a strategy to help quicken the departure of U.S. troops if it works. The trouble with the Iraqi military and police force is it's full of insergents and death squads. Somebody has to go in and take them out and that's what the 4,000 troops will also be doing.

He hasn't (yet) emptied every single military base into Iraq, so there are still plenty of people left for him to send.
