Tell him to start with a # 8 on the sides and back if it's not short enough then a 6 or 7. Scissoor cut top leaving it 2 1/2-3 inches on top. Blended on the sides and trimmers around the ears and neck of course. It looks likeTom cruise has a lot of fine hair that lays down. If your hair is course and stands out it won't lay the same even if it's cut the same. Otherwise, I hope your barber get's it right. Good Luck

Of course I mind his haircut, as well as the colour. personally, I don't like those super-short cuts. an inch should be, though a clear-cut line in the neck and on the sides is ok.

Well I'm a boy but I consider on us boys, short hair is actually always better. Long hair doesn't USUALLY show a sign of dominance. A person see most other guys with lengthy hair that doesn't look like they can fight. For example there will be a boy in my school with very long blonde hair.
