To hold the slot of Sniper in the US ARMY you first have to be one of 2 MOS(Military Occupational Specialties)

11B- Infantryman*
19D-Cavalry Scout*

Specifically it is an ASI(Additional Skill Indentifier) of B4

You have to be in the Pay grades/Rank of Pvt(E1) through Ssg(E6)

Correctible vision to 20/20 both eyes

Male

Assigned to a Line item slot as a Sniper(Usually in Mechanized units the sniper team of 2 men is a Company asset. In Light Infantry it is a Headquarters company asset under the aegis of the Recon platoon).

There is only 1 Infantry unit in the Army Reserve (100th Battalion, 442 Infantry) there are No Cavalry Scout slots in the reserve.

I think you'll be limited to what "MOS" (jobs) are available at the units in your area-
