If you've ever read any theology from a non-biased view (in other words, not a person who insists that the only way to think is theirs) you'll find that all the major monotheistic religions of the west (Islam, Christanity, Judaism) AS WELL as those of the East, Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, etc. start out with one basic premise.

That premise is that the best way to live is to have compassion and love for other human beings. Mohammed and Jesus started out the same way. Muslims regard Jesus as a prophet, one of many.

What you feel is "horrible" from Islam, is the fundamentalist minority of that religion. You'll find similar thinking within Christianity. Look at the Waco, Texas incident with David Koresh. HE created the "Armageddon" that was written about in the book of Revelations. Same as Jim Jones 30 years ago. HE got over 950 people to drink cyanide laced Koolaide! The all died! All in the so-called name of Christianity.

That far out thinking is what your are seeing from the Muslims on the friinge.

Here's a 10th Century Islamic saying. Think about it hard and see if you can find any fault with it:

"A seeker of TRUTH, must shun no science, scorn no book, nor cling fanatically to a single creed."

Keep an open mind and remember that ALL religious movenments have their good and bad points. If you choose to be in a fundamentalist, extremist religion, every thing else will seem wrong. Open your eyes and look for the GOOD in the other religions, not just at the actions of a few bad people.

If Islam is horrible so are Christianity and Judaism. If you think Islamics are fanatic, take a look at some Christians. Each faith has fanatics. Don't pick on one because they are different than you.

There are fanatics in all faiths. I've never had Muslims try to convert me. I wish I could say the same about Christians.

How is that any different from the other world's religions? They can all be very exclusive. Historically American protestants would only do business with other people from the same church. They were very fanatical, too... Many religions refuse to marry other religions. They are all very exclusive. What about Mormonism? They are very secretive and exclusive. I don't think Islam is much different, frankly.

They probably feel that Christianity is terrible because it teaches that Jesus is God's son, but they don't believe that because God did not impregnate a human (or so I was told by my sister-in-law). The key here is that I don't hear any of them bashing the religion. Get over yourself!!

Yea...They killed and tortured people who didn't believe and killed in the name of their religion..oh wait, that was the Christian Inquisition which only stopped about 200 years ago.

Not all islam is bad, most muslims are very peaceful.

It's the extremist islam leaders that give it a bad name.

Yes, I do. I also believe that people are free to believe as they wish. There aren't many religions who want their people to convert.
