Jello shots are always made with rum, vodka, tequila and gin. We make them by color. Blue is rum, yellow is tequila, green is vodka, red is gin. That way you always know what you are getting.

Generic vodka. The reason to make jello shots is so that you can consume tons of cheap liquor without getting sick. You really can't taste what they are made with.
Use a lower quality liquor & make many many jello shots. People consume them at lightning speed.
A good way to make them is in those little sauce containers with lids. Lids means that you can put them in your pockets or throw them in a cooler.
If you are making these in a dorm or something and all you have is rum or pucker. Definitely the rum. Pucker isn't strong enough.

Your best bet all around would be vodka. If it is a choice between rum and pucker go with the rum. Pucker is a crapy shot to begin with

I've actually made jello shots both ways. The Puckers made them too sweet, and I used Captain Morgan's Parrot Bay and Blue Raspberry Jello...yummy!

They will taste better with puckers but will be stronger with the rum.
