My first cat was a black stray that hung around the garden when I went to work and came home. Was trying not to attract her in case she was someone else's, but SO was not going to say "Hello Puss" so russianised it to "Puschka"
Then realised she had a jetblack kitten. Named her Poppy because her nose looks like the inside down of an opium poppy.
Puschka had 3 more kittens. Bailey, named because I saw a bottle of Baileys and thought it was a good name. Homer, because I did a crossword which had the philosopher in it - but the cat was more like Homer simpson - anything mess he could get himself into he would! Echo, after a greek goddess because it seemed pretty. Then found out it was a sad story! She's also known as Squeak because that's what she did as a baby, or Baby because she is the baby.

We tried to choose names that suited our pets. The first cat we got we called Mildrid as she was never playful and cute as a kitten, she was more like a very prim, proper old lady and Mildrid seemed like an old lady name.
My ginger cat is named Cameron partly because at the time I really liked Nicolas Cage and he had just made Con Air (his character was called Cameron Poe in the movie)
Our Maine Coon is called Marlon partly after Marlon Brando but we liked the name and it suits him.
When I was a kid and lived with my parents we had a cat called Spider - I named her when I was about 3 so I can't really remember my reasoning, maybe she also killed a spider when we got her home!?

Our cat was brought in to the house as a mouser, our son was very sick ,he spent months in hospital, we spent so much time there between us and just used the house to bed down for the night ,sat there one night and looked at something which I thought was a spider, next day realised it was a mouse who had made it's and it's families home in our furniture, promptly got a cat from the local cats home and our daughter called her TRUDY.Trudy is now retired from mousing but we never forget how she helped us, she is Ferrell but lovely

All of the Catnabbit cats are named because of something that they did. For instance, Callas is named after an opera singer because she used to sing (meow) all the time.
I recently made a list of the 100 worst cat names ever. I think they are pretty funny!

lol.. well my cat doesn't have the most original name. when we were going to get her as a kitten, we had been told that she was a boy. so i came up with the names, oliver and tobey. those names are significant because they are both names of pets my mother had when she was a child. (i was 12 when we got the kitten)
then after we got her, for weeks we couldn't decide which name to use, and i kept adding other names to the pile.. so in the mean time, we called her kitty. then when we found out she was a girl and she turned out to be quite princess like, we decided to change it to Miss Kitty.

We have 4 cats- Buster (Black cat)was named because he beat up the dogs. Blue was named because he is a redhead. Storm because she is the colour of storm clouds and we rescued her from the pound on a stormy day (and she can spit the dummy like a storm coming in fast..typical Burmese) and Tuvix after a Star Trek Voyager character who was two people melded into one after a transporter accident, she is Tortoise Shell and reminded us of a cross between Buster and Blue

The first cat I ever had was a yellow tabby. I couldn't decide what to name him, so he was name less for awhile. Until one day, when I was eating my favorite chips I gave a Lil' bit to my kitty and he meow for some more... suddenly I realized "CHEETOS" is the "purrfect"name for him.
*My second cat's name is "SOLACE" meaning
A source of comfort or consolation. I came up with this name because of the fact he brought me joy and serenity after I lost my first cat cheetos!

Yayayaya for Killer! (I hate those eight-legged creatures!!!!)
We have two cats.....sisters.....named Sissy and Sassy.....
Sissy was named Sissy...well, because shes a great big ole sissy kitty! When my b/f first brought them into the house...she came out of the box and ran under the big overstuffed chair in the living room and stayed there for two days. She was such a Sissy!
Sassy....she came out of that box...and explored every inch of this house. Her favorite spot in the whole house....sitting on top of the fridge like shes Queen of the world!
They're so fun to watch....They're both black with green eyes....and Sassy has a big white spot on her belly (we can't tell them apart still from behind or the side, if you can't see her belly..... so Sassy has a red collar with a bell on it, she thinks shes soooo pretty)
