I have three cats. The problem is that all three seem to love drinking the water from my fish tank. They get fresh water daily, so that is not the problem. I have done everything I know to make them stop. Parker the betta fish seems to enjoy nipping them on the nose. Maybe they like flavored water?

Cats like to drink water from unusual places so you may not be able to stop this.
You should put a lid on the fish tank to stop your cats from getting to the water.
Put a few extra bowls of water around the place in high places or unusual places and i bet your cats will drink from there than there ordinary water bowl

it takes a little time but it works
move your fish to another bowl for a few days during that time squeeze out 5 or 6 limes out in the original tank and when you put the fish back in the cats will have learned not to drink from there they hate the sour if a few days wont work you might have to do it for a week or 2

put some duct tape sticky side up around the fish tank where they usually stand...cats hate to have thier feet stick to anything. After a few times of that they will stay down. My cat won't even look at my beta's anymore. He eyes up the angel fish but they have a cover. Hope it works as well for you as it did for me.

well my kitty tries to catch the fish, but her habit is going to the washroom and trying to lick any water from the tap, cover any open areas but remember what you use has to be a clean material that wont contaminate the water, remember the temp in your tank is warm and it will condensate on any materials, i would go for plexi glass, get a sheet that will cover your whole tank, cut the openings for your filter and other accessories you have like air lines from your air tank, the cord fro your heater and an area for you to use to feed the fish, keep it on till your cat gets the hint and problem solve.

Maybe they like flavored water, or are just hoping to do a little fishing!

Since you have a tank, you could get a glass canopy like the one in this website:

The back is plastic, so you can cut it for any filters or tubing. It will also help cut down on evaporation in your tank.

put a lid on the tank simple as that . the cat could knock the light in the water fall in and die along with the fish then you come home reach in to get the cat and die too . all because you didnt buy a 20 dollar lid.

Screen? Cover? , that would be my guess. How would cats NOT want to drink it? , It's Fish Flavored Water! LOL!
