I was going out w/ my wife for about a year before I got her a promise ring. It is all up to you on how you feel in your relationship. I was a Senior in high school when I got engaged and I was 19 when I got married. Eight years and two sons later, I don't regret any of it.
A promise ring should be nice yet subtle you don't want it too look like an engagement ring or too cheap either. It should represent your willingness to make a commitment to her. I got my fiance now wife a promise ring that was two intertwined hearts with a diamond in the middle set in 14k gold. try to take her shopping and pay close attention to what she likes. Good luck.

A promise ring is pretty serious stuff for a junior in HS. If anything, I'd get her something inexpensive. You can go to the mall and visit stores that sell rings for as little as $10. If you tell them your gf is allergic to silver, they can probably recommend something that would not make her fingers swell up. My advice is keep it under $50.

You should get something simple, only for the fact that the engagement ring will probably be flashy. I'm sure you'll know when you find the right ring. It should remind you of her. Good luck!

You should both look honestly at where you would like to see yourself in 1-2-5-10 years...You may very well be in love (as you know it) but, your life/work/vocational choices will greatly influence who you are and who you are to become.
I was married at 17 to my "soul mate"...married 8yrs; I've been divorced now for 6. We loved each other, even through the divorce; yet, we were going in two differant directions. We had to love each other enough to "let go"....
Don't let your current "love/affection" keep either of you from becoming more of who you are as individuals.

why don't you get her a ring that will signify your love for each other? not a promise ring coz you are too young for that-in my opinion. if you give her a promise ring, you have to make sure that promise will be fulfilled. what if you fall in love with another woman-what happens to the promise ring then? you are still young-why not enjoy being with each other, care for each other, and let nature takes its own course.
