The first phone line to your home is never deductible. If you have a second phone line that you use for business, you can deduct that expense.
Even with one phone line, you can deduct toll calls and long distance if those expenses are business related.
If your Internet service is necessary for your work, you can deduct that expense. If you use the Internet service for both work and non-work, deduct the percentage of the expense that is business.
If you receive a W-2 for your work, these expenses go on Schedule A and can only be deducted to the extent they exceed 2% of all your income.
If you receive a 1099, they go on Schedule C and are fully deductible against your income from this work.
