I'm a dude . . . but from all my experience in dating and love-doctoring, there is almost always awkwardness after a guy tells his feelings to a girl in that manner. The reason is that if a girl is in a relationship, she usually wants to be in it. Otherwise, she would get out. That is yet another reason why you shouldn't just blurt out all your feelings before you know that the girl likes you. Next time, go to a priest when you want to get something off your chest. It would be awkward, unless you are fully prepared to leave your current girlfriend for the felings you have for the girl you want to confess your emotions to. Dont do it unless you can back it up with action.

i like it when a guy tells his feelings. i dont think its akward at all. it shows hes sensitve and passionate.
