why does my brother have a hard time dumping his girlfriend that is a crack addict. He has never done crack himself and has told her if she did it again that he would dump her. Well she did it, she than checked herself into detox than rehap for a 12 week program, and did fine for 3 weeks and guess what...went missing for 7 days and was living on the streets doing crack daily, phoneing a chat line and rumor has it has had some nasty meetings, asked the men for money after doing nasty deeds and 7 days later calls my brother and cries a river about going back into detox and rehab. The thing that irrates me is he's buying into it. What can I do?? He has only been in this relationship for about 7 months, and they are both in there mid/late 30's. Old enough to know better. any advise??

My best advice...let it go. There is NOTHING you can do for her, she has to hit a bottom and really decide to stop. And for him, your brother needs to let her go until she has done this. Then maybe consider being with her. Of course by then, he may come to his senses and realize that he can do better, and be without her. Love is strange, and add drugs to the equation, well, it makes for an impossible relationship. Please take a step back from this. I know you love your brother, but he has to make his own mistakes, no matter what his age. I am telling you this because I have been in the same situation with my sister, you just have to let go.

You cant are watching for a Crack addicts movements. in spite of the actuality that i may be injury if my mom did no longer respond to my letter till 4 months later. yet i think it relies upon on the content cloth of your brothers letter.

There nothing you can really do. Hopefully your brother will continue to see that she needs some serious help. Addictions are not only about the people that have the problem, it's also about the people they involve that tolerate the behavior. As long as your brother continues to tolerate her, he will probably always have something to do with her and she will never have any incentive to get some real help. She will continue to lie and used him for as long as he puts up with it.

I agree with Shelly, he has to learn on his own that the relationship is no good. Hopefully he is not having sex with her at all if she's sleeping around. I would encourage him to abstain from having sex with her until she cleans her act up or they break up.

A 7 month relationship isn't that long, certainly your brother deserves much better.

sad to say but he is going to have to learn for himself, if he gets burned enough hopefully he will get some sense nocked into him. You probally can not do anything except tell him how you feel but he sounds like he is blinded by "love" and nobody is going to be able to persuade him. Just give it time, he hopefully will figure it out!!!
